City drivers have different needs than suburban drivers, or those of you lucky enough to live down a winding country road. We could all benefit from a vehicle that's as fuel-efficient as possible, but in the city, it also needs to be easy to maneuver and easy to park without sacrificing any amount of fun-factor. Toyota most recently answered the call for a fuel-efficient city car with the 2013 Toyota Prius C, officially unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit earlier this year.
What about the C is different from other members of the Prius family? To start with: a base price of under $19,000. 53 mpg and an electric-only range of 15 miles is another impressive feature. To round the whole package off, the small hybrid is powered by a 73-horsepower 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine and an assisting 66-horsepower electric motor and a continuously variable transmission (CVT). It's a also the lightest Prius to date, 542 pounds lighter than the original, to be exact. It's also 19-inches shorter and 2-inches thinner.
Deland Toyota Scion has no doubt that the Prius C will be a big hit here in the States, since it's already gotten off to a bright start in Japan. Sold as the Aqua overseas, it made its official debut at the end of 2011 and Toyota has already had to up production levels to meet the high demand. How high? In its first month on the market, more than 110,000 units have been sold.
You don't have to wait much longer to catch a glimpse of the newest Prius sibling - it's set to arrive here at Deland Toyota Scion in March. In the meantime, we invite you to stop by our showroom at 1701 S Woodland Blvd Deland, FL 32720 and check out the other members of the Toyota Prius family, including the 2012 Prius v.
